Blocked and Broken Drains, Cleared and Repaired

We clear, inspect and repair drains for homes across Mooroolbark and Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

That covers blocked drains, CCTV drain inspections, drain locating, drain and sewer repairs and replacements, and new stormwater drainage. If a drain keeps blocking, we find out why and fix the pipe rather than clearing it again.

We're available 24 hours for drains that have backed up inside. Contact us today for a free quote.

Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Once the line is flowing again we send a CCTV camera down it. That shows whether the blockage was a one-off, or whether roots have found a cracked joint, a section has dropped out of line, or the pipe has partly collapsed. If we need to dig, a drain locator marks the exact spot and depth first so the excavation stays small.

  • It depends on how much of the run is affected. A single failed joint or a short damaged section can often be cut out and replaced while the rest of the line stays where it is. Where an old clay line has failed in several places, replacing the full run usually costs less than returning to it every year. You will get both options priced where both are realistic.

  • Yes. Drainage work almost always involves digging, so it is part of the job rather than something you need to arrange separately. We dig where the fault actually is, using the locator results, instead of opening up the whole yard.

  • Usually because the stormwater line is blocked, was laid without enough fall, or was never connected to a legal point of discharge. Downpipes that discharge straight onto the ground do the same thing. We can camera the line, find where the water is stopping, and put in the drainage needed to carry it away from the footings.

  • Clearing a drain from an existing inspection point is at the lower end. Cost climbs with depth, access, how much of the line needs replacing and whether concrete or paving has to come up. We quote on what is actually there after we have looked at it, and you get the price before any work starts.

  • We work across Maroondah, the Yarra Ranges, Knox, Whitehorse, the Dandenong Ranges and Cardinia from our base in Mooroolbark. If your suburb is not on our Areas We Serve page, call and ask rather than assuming we cannot get there.

A Closer Look at Drainage Work

Why Drains Block in Established Suburbs

Much of the housing across Melbourne's east still has original earthenware drainage. Those lines were laid in short sections with mortared joints, and decades of ground movement opens them up.

Roots find the moisture and grow into a mat that catches everything else. Clearing the blockage buys time, and a camera tells you how much.

Camera Work and Locating Before Anyone Digs

A CCTV inspection shows the inside of the line, so you can see the crack, the root intrusion or the section that has dropped. A locator then marks the position and depth of the fault from the surface.

Those two steps decide how big the job is, and keep the excavation over the fault rather than across the yard.

Repairs, Replacements and Sewer Work

Where the damage is limited, we cut out the failed section and join new PVC into the existing run. Where an old line has failed in several places, replacing the whole run usually costs less over any reasonable time frame.

Sewer work is the same process at greater depth, with the added step of reconnecting correctly at the main.

Stormwater and Water Sitting Against the House

Stormwater problems show up as water pooling beside a wall, lawn that never dries, or a downpipe that spills over in heavy rain. The cause is usually a blocked or undersized line, missing fall, or a downpipe connected to nothing.

New lines, pits and detention tanks where a property needs them move that water into the legal point of discharge instead of into the footings.

Drainage as Part of a Renovation or Extension

Adding rooms or moving a bathroom means the drainage moves with it. Existing lines need locating, new runs need the right fall, and everything has to reconnect at the right point.

Getting that wrong is expensive once slabs and tiling are down, so the drainage and the renovation plumbing are worth keeping with the one business.
